Playing Lonely Lady is all about giving the song lots and lots of space, and we brought lots of spaciness into how we played Lonely in the studio. We wanted it to get more lush over the course of the song, and it came out as we wanted it to. Singing it was a little tough for me - in our original 3 takes that we did as a band at the beginning, I was singing the lyrics more crisply, and it sounded very wrong to me afterwards. When I went in to re-record this track, I extended each word as much as I felt like I could without it sounding weird. It’s a decision that gave the song exactly what I hoped it would - more space and lushness added to the track.
