About

ChameleouS is a six-piece original rock band from Tennessee whose music blends modern classic rock, Southern swing, psychedelia, roots rock, and jam band influences into a sound that is expansive, melodic, and emotionally resonant. Every member brings decades of musical experience to the band, creating music that values thoughtful songwriting, dynamic performances, and albums meant to be experienced as complete artistic works.

Biography

After more than a year and a half of recording, refining, and relentless attention to detail, Tennessee rock band ChameleouS has released its debut album, Wicked Din — an eight-song collection that blends modern classic rock, psychedelia, roots music, a little swing and a touch of twang, mixed with adventurous songwriting into a sound that feels both timeless and unmistakably its own.

Wicked Din was built around a simple goal: create the kind of album listeners want to experience from beginning to end. Rich vocals, soaring guitars, pedal steel, vintage keyboards, and cinematic arrangements combine to create an album that rewards repeat listening, moving effortlessly from expansive rock anthems to intimate, reflective moments.

For frontman and principal songwriter Mac Bartine, the album represents the culmination of a musical journey spanning more than three decades. The songs were chosen from material written between the late 1990s and 2006, then updated for the album and reimagined by a band whose members each brought decades of musical experience to the project. What emerged was more than a collection of songs — it became a shared artistic statement shaped by years of craftsmanship and a commitment to getting every detail right.

Recorded, mixed, mastered, and produced by Seva at Sequoyah Studios in Knoxville, Tennessee, Wicked Din reflects an intentionally organic approach to recording. Rather than seeking perfection, the band focused on capturing performances with warmth, energy, and emotional authenticity, resulting in an album that feels equally at home through headphones or on stage.

Drawing from a broad palette of rock traditions while refusing to be confined by any single genre, the band's music continually shifts in texture, mood, and perspective — true to the inspiration behind its name.

Although Wicked Din is the band's first release, it carries the confidence and cohesion of musicians who have spent years developing their craft. It is both a debut and a beginning, establishing a foundation for a band already writing and recording new material while bringing these songs to audiences through live performances.

Critical praise

Some records announce a band. Others confess one. Wicked Din, the debut full-length from Knoxville's ChameleouS, does both at once, and it does so with a patience that younger acts simply do not possess.

Indie Dock Music Blog

There's a real difference between an album made quickly to chase a moment and one built patiently to last, and “Wicked Din” belongs firmly to the second category!

We Write About Music

A spectacular conclusion to the band's incredible debut album.

Plastic Mag

Tennessee's Chameleous arrive with the kind of debut that feels earned, not assembled.

Songplode

It may be their debut album, but it certainly doesn't sound like their first conversation with music.

Rock Era Magazine
